Yukon Industries Home & personal tech help

Home & personal tech support

Patient help when tech is getting in the way of real life.

New router that nobody can log into. Years of photos on one aging laptop. A creator who needs reliable storage to edit from. I handle the setup, explain it in plain language, and leave you with something you can actually use.

Real situations

The kind of work people actually call about.

Home network

Router & Wi‑Fi that just works

New ISP gear, dead spots, guest networks, printer chaos, or a parent who only needs “the internet and the TV” without a password scavenger hunt.

Photographers & families

Photo & file backup you can trust

Second copies that are automatic, labeled in plain English, and tested so you know recovery is possible — not a dusty external drive in a drawer.

Creators & YouTubers

Storage you can edit from

Local NAS or edit drive setup for large video libraries: fast enough to work off, backed up so a single disk failure is not a career event.

Anyone with “that computer”

Cleanup, transfers & handoffs

New laptop setup, moving years of files, cleaning up a slow machine, or documenting how things work so the next family member is not stuck.

Home offices

Simple office network

Separate work gear from kids’ devices, basic VPN for remote work, or a clean UniFi / mesh setup without enterprise complexity.

Peace of mind

Walkthroughs & “show me once”

Sit with you (or a family member), set things up, and walk through it until it feels less scary. Patience is part of the job.

Packages

Straightforward jobs with starting prices.

Many home jobs are a single visit or remote session. Bigger projects (storage servers, multi-drive backups) get a fixed quote before work starts.

Most common

Home network rescue

From $150

Often one visit

  • Router / mesh / Wi‑Fi setup or cleanup
  • Device connection (phones, TVs, printers)
  • Simple written notes: passwords, what changed
  • Optional: better coverage plan if gear is the limit

Creators

Edit storage / small NAS

From $500

Hardware cost separate

  • Storage design for edit performance + capacity
  • Setup, network access, and folder layout
  • Backup of the library (not just the edit drive)
  • Walkthrough so you are not stuck after day one

Hourly & one-off visits

Not every problem fits a package. General help is available by the hour — remote or in person when local scheduling works.

From $100 / hour

Quotes are confirmed before work begins. Travel may apply outside a local radius. Hardware and cloud subscriptions are separate unless we agree otherwise.

How it works

No jargon gatekeeping.

  1. Tell me the problem Email a short description — “Wi‑Fi dies in the kitchen” is plenty.
  2. Get a clear plan I reply with whether I can help, roughly what it costs, and in-person vs remote.
  3. Fix & explain We do the work, then walk through anything you need to keep using it.
  4. Leave notes Passwords, where files live, and what to do if something acts up again.

Contact

Describe the mess. We will sort the rest.

Say what device or problem is involved and whether you prefer a visit or remote help. I will answer with a simple next step and a price band.
